Discover Lorestan Province
The Lorestan group lies within Iran's western mountain country, separate from the high ranges beside the Caspian and the central desert basins. These named elevations provide a local focus in a landscape where rugged relief frames much of the country's drier interior.
Iran's western ranges form part of the rugged rim around its interior basins. Lorestan gives that broad geography a more specific focus, with mountain blocks and valleys instead of the open desert surfaces associated with the central plateau or the humid Caspian fringe.
