Discover Sabah
Kinabalu and Trus Madi occupy different parts of Sabah's upland interior. Their setting belongs to Borneo rather than the Malay Peninsula, illustrating the geographical separation between Malaysia's two major land areas and their distinct mountain regions.
Sabah's mountains rise inland from Borneo's coastal plains, with Kinabalu and Trus Madi forming separate highland objectives. Tropical monsoons influence the wider region, but the scale of the relief means the upper mountain environment differs considerably from the surrounding lower country.
