Discover Northern
Uluiqalau anchors this group in the high interior of Taveuni. The selected mountains belong to an island landscape separated by sea from Fiji's other major uplands, with rugged volcanic terrain rising behind the lower coastal margins.
Fiji contains both mountainous larger islands and numerous smaller islands and islets. Taveuni's interior belongs to the high-island part of that geography. A tropical marine climate brings relatively little seasonal temperature variation, while the surrounding ocean separates its mountain landscape from the rest of the archipelago.
