Discover Kenya

Mount Kenya provides the central landmark for this group, with neighbouring named elevations occupying different positions around its mountain landscape. This highland setting differs from Kenya's coastal plain and the drier lower country farther north and east.

Mount Kenya rises as a distinct mountain mass within the East African highlands. Its neighbouring elevations provide a local framework for the itinerary, while the country's wider geography includes the Rift Valley and contrasting dry plains; the mountain should not be treated as representative of all Kenya.
