Mount Bernacci, Mount Maclayao and South Codiapi Mountain focus on southern Luzon's coastal hill country around the Ragay Gulf region. Their maritime surroundings give these uplands a different geographical setting from the continuous mountain systems of continental Southeast Asia.
This part of southern Luzon is shaped by peninsulas and coastal inlets around Ragay Gulf. The hills near the Bondoc Peninsula occupy a different setting from the large volcanic cones farther along Bicol. Their geographical character comes from uplands enclosed by maritime lowlands rather than an extensive inland plateau.
