Mount Logan and the neighbouring selected summits place this group in Canada's far northwestern high mountains. Their setting is distinct from both the southern Canadian Rockies and the much broader plains and shield landscapes elsewhere in the country.

Yukon's mountains belong to Canada's northern climatic setting, beyond the more temperate regions where much of the population lives. The national landscape extends far beyond these ranges into Arctic islands, extensive forests and plains; this group concentrates on a particularly mountainous northwestern corner.
