Discover Arizona
Northern Arizona's mountain landscape is a marked contrast to the state's low deserts. Around Flagstaff and Williams, volcanic summits rise above extensive forest and the high plateau. Humphreys Peak, Kendrick Peak and Bill Williams Mountain form a selection rooted in this northern high country rather than in the canyon landscapes farther north.
Humphreys belongs to the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff; Kendrick stands to their northwest, and Bill Williams Mountain anchors the landscape around Williams. Their separation makes this a regional journey through several volcanic landmarks. An enquiry can concentrate on this combination of forest, open uplands and broad plateau scenery without treating the three mountains as one connected route.
