Three Peaks challenges in Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands consist mainly of low Pacific atolls and their lagoons. The shape and spread of these islands provide the geographical interest, rather than the relief of a mountain destination.

The landscapes of Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands consist mainly of low coral islands and atolls spread across the Pacific. Their physical character comes from lagoons, reefs and ocean distances rather than mountain relief, and individual islands occupy only narrow strips of land above the water.

The islands are broadly arranged in the Ratak and Ralik chains, with large stretches of ocean between individual atolls. Majuro and Kwajalein have different lagoon shapes, but both remain low coral settings. Their geography is best understood horizontally, through islands, reefs and water, rather than as a succession of elevated summit destinations.
