Three Peaks challenges in Argentina

Argentina's western edge follows the Andes, while the Pampas and Patagonian plateaus spread eastward. Mendoza's high mountains belong to a much larger landscape stretching from northern valleys to the far south.

The landscapes of Argentina

The Andes stretch across many different Argentine regions, so Mendoza and southern Patagonia should be considered separately. Aconcagua belongs to the dry, high mountain country of Mendoza, while farther south the ranges meet a much cooler landscape. The broad plains and plateaus east of the mountains reinforce the scale of the transition along the western frontier.
