Three Peaks challenges in Colombia
Colombia's Andean highlands stand between low coastal country and the eastern Llanos. Mountain landscapes are only one part of this varied geography, and individual volcanic objectives require separate consideration from the surrounding region.
The landscapes of Colombia
The Andes divide Colombia’s interior into a complex highland landscape, while the Llanos open eastwards towards lower plains. Caribbean and Pacific coastal areas add further contrasts. A mountain journey should be tied to a particular range or national park, with volcanic access considered individually; the presence of a mountain in the landscape does not establish that its summit can be visited.
