Discover Santa Catarina do Fogo
Pico do Fogo rises on Fogo, while Monte Lorna and Monte Fontainhas lie on neighbouring Brava. The Atlantic separates these highland landscapes, so the group spans two islands rather than one continuous mountain ridge within the Cape Verde archipelago.
The islands lie off western Africa within the wider Atlantic region of Macaronesia. Rainfall is limited and irregular, distinguishing Cape Verde from many wetter tropical archipelagos. Fogo's central cone and Brava's elevated interior provide two different expressions of island relief within that maritime setting.
