Three Peaks challenges in Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo stretches from a vast central basin toward high mountains in the east. Its eastern uplands should be considered separately from the low equatorial landscapes that dominate the interior.
The landscapes of Democratic Republic of the Congo
The eastern mountains are a distinct part of a country otherwise dominated by the immense Congo basin. The Rwenzori border landscape includes Mount Stanley, while the equatorial interior contains much lower ground and extensive forest. Mountain objectives require precise regional identification, especially along international borders; neighbouring peaks should not automatically be treated as lying within the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
