Three Peaks challenges in Namibia
Namibia's inland plateau sits between the coastal Namib and the Kalahari farther east. Isolated massifs and high ground create striking landmarks, but a massif and its own summit are not separate mountain objectives.
The landscapes of Namibia
Namibia's elevated interior lies between the coastal Namib and the Kalahari farther east. Isolated massifs and rocky high ground stand out against broad dry landscapes, giving the country a mountain character quite different from a continuous alpine chain.
Brandberg is an isolated massif in the western interior, with Königstein forming its summit. The Erongo Mountains occupy another distinct upland group farther south, while the Khomas Highland lies around the central plateau. Dry plains and escarpments separate these settings, allowing individual massifs to stand clearly above the surrounding open country.
