Three Peaks challenges in Lithuania
Lithuania's fertile central plains are framed by low uplands shaped by earlier glaciation. Its landscapes offer a gentler form of exploration than Europe's mountain ranges, with relatively modest differences in elevation.
The landscapes of Lithuania
Lithuania's central plains are framed by low uplands shaped by earlier glaciation. The terrain is generally gentle, with hills and local highpoints rather than a conventional mountain range, and its Baltic setting is an important part of that character.
The Aukštaitija uplands lie in eastern Lithuania, while the Samogitian uplands occupy a separate western setting. The southeastern hills around Aukštojas belong to another modest rise in the land. Lakes, woodland and broad plains provide the surrounding geography, making these highpoints part of gently varied countryside rather than a chain of mountains.
