Titov Vrv, Korab and Plat focus on North Macedonia's western high country. The selected peaks occupy different positions in the border ranges, with upland relief continuing beyond national boundaries rather than ending at the edge of one country's map.
The Šar and Korab ranges form separate parts of the western highlands, with Titov Vrv and Golem Korab providing recognisable anchors. Elsewhere, deep basins, large border lakes and the Vardar corridor divide North Macedonia's mountainous terrain into distinct regions rather than one uninterrupted chain.
