Discover Surrey

Surrey’s Three Peaks bring a different scale of adventure to the idea of a mountain challenge. Box Hill, Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill rise above the wooded Surrey Hills, close enough to London for a countryside escape while feeling far removed from the city. Their appeal lies in the variety: chalk slopes and broad views at Box Hill, a wooded hilltop at Holmbury, and the landmark tower on Leith Hill.

This is a landscape of woodland paths, open viewpoints and villages rather than exposed high mountain terrain. Leith Hill is the highest point in Surrey, while Holmbury Hill’s Iron Age hillfort adds a much older human story to the scenery. Ask us about bringing the three hills together for a private group or team day, with the shape of the outing discussed around the people taking part.

The mountains

The three summits

  1. Box Hill — Betchworth Clump high point

Box Hill forms part of the North Downs above the Mole valley. Its true high point lies east of the familiar National Trust viewpoint.

  2. Holmbury Hill

Holmbury Hill has the remains of an Iron Age hillfort on its summit. The surrounding woodland forms part of the Hurtwood.

  3. Leith Hill

Leith Hill is Surrey’s highest hill. Its landmark tower stands on the summit above the wooded Surrey Hills.
