Three Peaks challenges in United Kingdom
The United Kingdom's National Three Peaks links Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Together they introduce three distinct mountain landscapes across Scotland, England and Wales, rather than one continuous range.
The landscapes of United Kingdom
The UK's rugged uplands are concentrated mainly in the north and west, while flatter and gently rolling terrain is more extensive towards the east and southeast. Scotland's Highlands, England's Lake District and the mountains of Wales form separate landscapes within this wider pattern.
The Atlantic strongly influences the temperate climate, and the indented coastline keeps maritime surroundings relevant even well inland. The National Three Peaks brings together Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon across those three regions. Their geographical separation is a defining feature of the challenge, alongside the character of each individual mountain.
