Three Peaks challenges in Cuba
Cuba is largely a country of plains and rolling ground, punctuated by mountain regions. Its central uplands and more rugged southeast offer different perspectives on the island beyond the coastal lowlands.
The landscapes of Cuba
Cuba’s most rugged mountain country lies in the southeast, where Pico Turquino rises above the surrounding range. Elsewhere, plains and rolling ground occupy much of the island, with smaller upland regions adding variety. A mountain-focused visit should therefore identify its regional setting clearly, allowing the southeast’s higher terrain to be distinguished from the more gentle landscapes farther west.
