Discover Guatemala
Guatemala's highland terrain forms a major contrast with its lower coastal and northern landscapes. This group focuses on individually named inland elevations, rather than the country's best-known volcanic summits, within a broadly mountainous Central American setting.
The named hills here focus attention on eastern Guatemala, away from the great volcanic cones farther west. Across the country, two broad mountain belts separate the Pacific-facing country from the northern Petén lowlands, with cooler conditions in the elevated interior.
