Discover California
Southern California's high mountains rise above a landscape more often associated with cities, coast and desert. San Gorgonio, San Jacinto and Mount San Antonio belong to three neighbouring mountain systems, creating a striking regional grouping across the eastern side of the greater Los Angeles area and towards Palm Springs.
San Antonio, also widely known as Mount Baldy, represents the San Gabriel Mountains. San Gorgonio stands in the San Bernardino Mountains, while San Jacinto rises farther southeast above the desert margin. The appeal is the contrast between these separate ranges, not an implied continuous trail. A California enquiry can focus on this compact part of the state's much larger mountain geography.
