Discover Massachusetts

Western Massachusetts is a landscape of wooded mountains, long ridgelines and valleys connecting small New England towns. Mount Greylock, Mount Everett and Mount Race keep this enquiry within that Berkshire setting. The selection pairs the state's highest mountain with two summits farther south near the Connecticut boundary.

Greylock stands in the northern Berkshires, while Everett and Race form a more closely related southern pair. Their distribution gives the journey a north-to-south shape through western Massachusetts rather than a single summit circuit. The broader appeal comes from the contrast between high wooded slopes and the settled valleys below, with the three mountains providing distinctive anchors for exploring this part of New England.
