Discover Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania's southern uplands are shaped by wooded ridges, plateaux and valleys rather than isolated alpine massifs. Mount Davis, Blue Knob and the selected Bald Knob bring together three named highpoints across this part of the state. They place the enquiry within the central Appalachian landscape instead of spreading it across unrelated northeastern ranges.
Davis supplies the state highpoint link in the southwest, Blue Knob represents the higher country to the northeast, and Bald Knob adds a distinct summit near Everett. Bald Knob's setting near Everett adds another part of the ridge and valley landscape to the journey. The result is a regional selection with clear individual map points and a shared wooded Appalachian character.
