Discover Rhode Island
Rhode Island's western uplands provide a gentle, wooded interpretation of a three peaks journey. Jerimoth Hill, Durfee Hill and Whites Hill are real named elevations in this compact New England state, but they are hills rather than mountains. Their interest comes from their place within the rural interior, away from the better-known coastline.
Jerimoth brings the state highpoint connection, while Durfee and Whites Hill keep the enquiry within the same broad western landscape. The relatively small distances make the geography easy to understand without implying a continuous public route. A Rhode Island journey would be shaped around hill country, nearby places and appropriate individual stops, rather than around the altitude or exposure associated with a high mountain expedition.
