Three Peaks challenges in Norway
Norway's glaciated mountains and high plateaus are cut by valleys and fjords. Coastal and inland settings differ sharply, giving a mountain journey very different character depending on the region selected.
The landscapes of Norway
Norway's mountain geography is inseparable from its valleys, high plateaux and deeply indented coast. Inland ranges and fjord-side mountains create different experiences, while the country's long north-to-south extent adds further regional variation.
Jotunheimen contains high inland mountains, including Galdhøpiggen, while the western fjords cut deeply into coastal uplands. Farther north, island groups such as Lofoten bring mountains close to the sea. These separated settings share glaciated landforms but differ strongly in scale, coastline and surrounding valleys, giving Norway considerable regional mountain variety.
