Three Peaks challenges in Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago combines plains with hills and low mountains. Trinidad's northern high ground offers a different landscape from the lower central and southern areas and from the separate island of Tobago.
The landscapes of Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad contains broad plains as well as hills and low mountains, with its northern high ground forming a distinct part of the island. Tobago lies separately to the northeast and has its own upland landscape. The sea between them is an important part of the country's geography.
The climate is tropical, with a pronounced rainy period. Trinidad's northern relief contrasts with its lower central and southern areas, while Tobago provides a smaller island setting. These differences make the two islands more varied than a single label of either mountainous or low-lying would suggest.
